Dear Sir/Madam,

Mrs. Iulia Elena Halawani, residing in Romania, is contacting your office in relation to proceedings currently pending before the Sunni Religious Court in Beirut concerning the late Mounir Chafic Halawani.

We have recently received procedural documents concerning:

- file no. 183/2026, filed by Mrs. Ismat Said Jaafar against the heirs of the late Mounir Chafic Halawani regarding an objection against the will/testament, with a hearing scheduled for 07/07/2026;
- as well as the related divorce and divorce-objection proceedings registered under files 163/2022, 1598/2022 and 10/2025.

Mrs. Iulia Elena Halawani is the current wife of the late Mounir Chafic Halawani and the legal representative and mother of the minor Salma Halawani, aged 14, the recognized minor daughter of the deceased.

Mounir Chafic Halawani held dual Romanian and Lebanese citizenship, resided in Romania, had his last residence in Romania and passed away in Romania. Mrs. Iulia Elena Halawani and the minor Salma Halawani also reside in Romania.

Following the review of the documents communicated from Lebanon, we noted that the minor Salma Halawani does not appear to be mentioned in the procedural documents communicated to date.

For this reason, an informational notice together with supporting family and civil-status documents was sent to the Sunni Religious Court in Beirut exclusively for the purpose of:

- informing the Court about the existence of the current wife and the minor child;
- requesting access to the documents contained in the court file;
- and avoiding the risk of decisions being issued in absentia without the Court being aware of their existence.

No full defence on the merits has been filed and no extensive contentious representation in Lebanon has been requested at this stage.

As Mrs. Iulia Elena Halawani and the minor Salma Halawani reside outside Lebanon and do not have direct access to the court registry or procedural records, assistance is sought strictly for obtaining access to:

- the hasr irth, if issued;
- copies of the will/testament and related objections;
- copies of the procedural submissions and supporting documents filed in the proceedings;
- clarification regarding the persons currently appearing in the succession records;
- and clarification regarding whether the minor Salma Halawani appears in any succession-related records or filings.

The family’s intention is for the main proceedings to remain and be handled in Romania, considering that the deceased resided and passed away in Romania, the close family members and the minor child reside in Romania, and judicial proceedings are already pending here.

There is serious concern that proceedings in Lebanon could become extremely lengthy, costly and difficult to manage remotely.

We would be grateful if you could kindly inform us:

- whether your office could assist with obtaining the above-mentioned documents and procedural information;
- what documents would be required from our side;
- and what the estimated fees would be for such limited assistance.

Hello,
My father passed away in 2020 and my mother in February 2024. My father left behind a commercial real estate ( an office ). We are 3 siblings, 2 brothers and our sister.
Kindly, I would like to know what the legal procedures and the fees would be for transferring the inheritance to us, when done in Lebanon. Thank you, it's much appreciated.

Hello! I am helping my husband in preparing an application for Italian citizenship through ancestry, and as part of the document-requirements I need to obtain certain official civil records from Lebanon regarding his late grandmother.

Specifically, we require certified copies of all relevant documents that the Civil Status Office holds, including but not limited to:

Death certificate / extract for my husband's grandmother, who passed away in Lebanon on 1987 year;

Birth certificate / extract for my husband and his father;
Marriage certificate / extract for my husband's parents;
Any other civil status document relevant that may support the Italian citizenship claim.
